Australia’s robust economy, with abundant and diverse natural resources, attracts high levels of foreign investment and has placed Australia’s economic Gross Domestic Product (GDP) at a level akin to four of the dominant Western European economies.  Factors contributing to Australia’s strong economy include efforts focusing on economic reform, low inflationary and interest rates, and increasing the sometimes tenuous trading ties with China,` have been key factors for the robust growth and expansion occurring the 17 consecutive years prior to the global financial crisis in 2008.
